Archbishop Spalding selects new softball coach

Delaney Bell, a 2008 Archbishop Spalding graduate, has been selected to be the new softball coach at her alma mater.

Bell replaces Nicki Trumpler, who won four A Conference titles as a player and four more as a coach at the Catholic co-educational school in Severn.

Bell was a four-year starter for the Cavaliers and a member of three championship squads and went on to play four years at Shepherd University. She was part of the first team in school history to record an NCAA Tournament win.

She has spent the past five years as a travel softball coach with the Maryland Chill.

"We are extremely excited to have Delaney join our coaching staff, her understanding and familiarity with the school, league and softball program will be instrumental as we continue to develop student-athletes and compete in the IAAM A Conference," said Jeff Parsons, Spalding athletic director. "Her knowledge of the area as both a player and coach will be vital for recruiting purposes as the program continues to move forward."
