Maryvale attempts four in a row in A Conference; Mount de Sales poses strong challenge
Glenelg is heavy favorite in B Conference

Maryvale won last year’s A conference championship by forty-four points for their third consecutive IAAM indoor track championship. McDonogh finished second while Mount de Sales came in third.
Looking to this season, Mount de Sales seems to have quite a formidable team to end Maryvale’s streak. The Sailor’s are strong in almost every track and field event, and they could conceivably win every event on the track. Edeline Davies is one of the league’s top sprinters as she won the 55 dash two years ago. Bella Whittaker ran 55.9 last year in the 400, and she could challenge for the wins in the 300 and 500. Juliette Whittaker won cross championships back in October, and she could challenge for the 800, 1600, or 3200 title. Sam Facius won the 800 and 1600 titles two years ago and she will look to get those back.
Maryvale loses quite a few points from last year’s championship, but they return a strong core of runners. Maddy Robinson, Emma Radebaugh, and Caroline Abscher all scored in the 300 and 500 last year. Haley Wehberg won both the 1600 and 3200 while Rachel Thomas was third in the 800. Though they lost a lot in the field events, Maryvale should be very strong in high jump and pole vault.
McDonogh was second last year. While strong in the sprints, they lack depth in distance and field events. Jada Seaman is one of the best athletes in the league, and she, herself, could win four events in the sprints and field. Emma Tilson, Ella Little, and Soleil Bellan are strong runners, and they can all score in the 55, 300, 500, and relays.
B Conference
This is the third season where the B conference is separate from the A conference. Glenelg won two years ago, while Catholic won last year. Glenelg, which won last year’s outdoor B Conference title, appears to the strongest team heading into this indoor season.
Glenelg is very strong in the sprints, relays, and field events. They return most of their top runners from last year’s runner up team. Amanda Ruffin and Aniya Diggs went first and third in the 55 dash. Kate Sites won the 500 and finished third in the 300. Deja Ravenell was third in both the long jump and triple jump. Glenelg also won the 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
Roland Park was third at last year’s championships, and they look to make a run this year at the title. Their strengths are the middle distance and distance events. They bring back most of their top runners from last year. Alayna Gibson won the 800, 1600, and 3200. Ryvienne Peterson was second in the hurdles. Tavianne Maultsby was fourth in the 300 and Sade Johnson was fifth in the 300 and second in the 500.
Catholic lost quite a bit from last year’s championship team, so it would seemingly be difficult for them to defend their championship. However, they have performed well in field events, and those events should be wide open this season. Their top returners are Abbey Sullivan, who was 3rd in the 800 and second in the 1600, and Sara Morales, who was second in pole vault, fourth in triple jump, and seventh in long jump.
