About Annie:  

Annie topped St. Paul’s School for Girls sophomore Ananya Parekh, 6-4, 7-5, to claim the A Conference No. 1 singles title on Wednesday at the IAAM championships.

Parekh’s three-set win the last time the two standouts met set the tone for a very tight showdown between the two standouts.

“She gave me the first loss of my high school career,” Nemoy said. “It was close — it was a really good battle. I had a lot of confidence going into the match, but I knew I had the skills to beat her. I had more confidence in myself and I trusted my shots. I was focusing more on what I wanted to do rather than reacting to her.”

In addition, with Nemoy leading the way, the Eagles hoisted the A Conference trophy for the third year in a row.

“We had a couple of individual losses this season,” she said. “But everyone really pulled through in the tournament.”
