About Sophie: A four-year starter, Sophie is off to a torrid start to the 2024 season while batting over .600 with 12 RBIs and a slugging percentage well above 1.000
 
This week alone, in games against Mercy, Spalding and McDonogh, the UMBC commit went 6-for-9 with a pair of homers, a triple, two doubles, a single and four RBIs to help the Patriots to improve their record to 3-1 in the A Conference.

John Carroll coach Sherry Hudson said that Sophie has always been a solid player who is coming into her own this spring — in more ways than one, but especially at the plate.

“She’s seeing the ball really well right now,” Hudson said. “Even her outs are loud outs.”

As a team captain, Sophie also gets high marks from her coach.

“Sophie is one of the top captains we’ve ever had in terms of leadership,” Hudson added. “She’s always been a hard worker and she always does what you ask her to do.”
