About Maddie: The sophomore midfielder who collected three draws, all of which Severn coach Kathy Rudkin said “came at huge times” during a back-and-forth battle against Mercy last week, capped off an impressive performance by scoring the winning goal in triple overtime to help the Admirals secure their first A Conference win of the season.

Rudkin said that Maddie “stepped up big for us” to notch her fourth goal in her first year on the varsity.

“That was a huge win for us,” the coach added, “against a really gritty and athletic team from Mercy. We really needed that win. It was a real morale-booster.”

Naturally, Maddie was ecstatic about the big goal.

“Scoring the winning goal in triple OT was a feeling that’s hard to describe,” she said. “I’m proud of my teammates for showing grit throughout the whole game, which helped me score that final goal. I could not have done it without my teammates and the energy we had on the field and the sidelines.”
